Florida State has a commitment from Neptune Beach (Fla.), Duncan U. Fletcher, three-star junior weak-side defense end Aaron Hester Thursday noon. Hester announced the commitment on his 17th birthday.
The decision to select FSU was an easy decision for the 6-foot-3, 221-pound rand defender.
‘Mike Norvell, just as he approached me early in my recruitment, it was like no one else. Just like he said he believes in me. It was like no one else did, ‘Hester said.
Hester is the son of former Seminole Ron Hester. He said a legacy does not play an integral role in his decision.
“It did not have much to do with my father, but out of all the schools and presentations, I trust them the most,” he shared about FSU.
While he did not feel pressured to follow in his father’s footsteps, his decision did fill his father with joy.
‘He’s very excited and not just because he’s there, the main reason he’s excited is because it’s my decision and what I want to do. It did not require any conviction from him, “said Hester.
Hester did his best work at the high school level as a passer. FSU views him in a similar way.
‘They see me as a striking player in the field, almost like a Nolan Smith, ”Said Hester.
Last season, in eight games, he separated 53 tackles, 10.5 sacks and four touchdowns. He also had 150 rushing yards and four tackles on offense.
He is the fourth commitment for FSU in their 2022 class. The class tends to a Top 10 class and he joins some top players. While the FSU is coming from a season that has conceded just three wins, Hester believes the future in Tallahassee is moving in the right direction.
“I see myself in the future and I think it’s bright,” Hester said.
