After seven years in development, The Frontier mod for Fallout: New Vegas has been completed, reports PCGamesN.
While most mods try to add pieces of new territory, new weapons, or new armor, The Frontier has evolved into what is essentially a brand new Fallout title. It attempts to fit into the Fallout cannon and takes place at about the same time as the Fallout: New Vegas DLC. However, the area visited by the courier is far from the sand of the Mojave. This mod has players traveling to snowy Portland, Oregon. The development team has purposefully chosen this location to contrast the environments seen so far in Fallout, so even hardy New Vegas vets should find it a fresh experience.
The interaction between factions is a big part of Fallout: New Vegas and The Frontier carry on that tradition. The Legion and NCR stand in front of each other, just like in the base game. However, a new group, the Crusaders, also came into play. The Crusaders are a violent offshoot of the Brotherhood of Steel, seeking revenge for those who have wronged their leader.
Each of these factions can join and have a complete campaign to play through. Mod creators estimate that the three main stories will take 60+ hours to complete.
Of course, The Frontier brings along a bunch of new weapons, armor, and items. But the killer feature for this mod is that it has a complex management system. Instead of leaving all the cars, trucks and other vehicles sitting and rusting, players can jump behind the wheel. It even includes Vertibirds.
Fallout: The Frontier is now available on NexusMods and requires Fallout: New Vegas and its four DLC packs to play. Players are advised to start and play a new save file in the base game until they reach level 11. An NCR representative then appears; then it’s to Portland.
