Frontier Airlines launches network expansion again

Frontier Airlines is launching another network expansion. The airline has announced plans to add three new cities from Myrtle Beach, a new destination in the Caribbean islands of Miami. Finally, the airline will add a whole new destination: Rochester, New York. These new routes are consistent with Frontier’s method of recreational expansion.

Frontier announces five new routes

The biggest winner in Frontier’s latest network expansion round is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which gets three new uninterrupted routes from this summer. From Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR), Frontier flies to the following cities:

  • Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) twice a week from 11 June
  • Portland International Jetport (PWM) once a week from 12 June
  • TF Green Airport (PVD) in Providence twice a week from 10 June

Meanwhile, Frontier Airlines is expanding its Caribbean portfolio from Miami International Airport (MIA). With the focus on Jamaica, Frontier will fly three times a week to Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay. This route starts on 28 May.

Finally, Frontier adds a brand new city to its route map. The airline will from Frederick Douglass – Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Starting May 20, Frontier will connect Rochester, New York, with Orlando three times a week.

A pattern of recreational growth

Relaxation-oriented growth is the best of Frontier. These new routes come just a day after Frontier announced the expansion of Atlanta and Philadelphia. As the summer of 2021 approaches rapidly and the higher TSA passenger numbers provide evidence of the potential for a domestic summer boom, Frontier wants to increase its capacity and connect as many new points as possible.

Myrtle Beach is getting a bunch of new airlines this summer. Southwest Airlines is coming to the city in a big way. Myrtle Beach is a popular tourist destination for inexpensive tourists. The city is home to large stretches of beaches and golf courses, and also offers numerous restaurants.

MYR is therefore a major base for Spirit Airlines. Allegiant Air also provides seasonal services to various destinations in the US, and the major US airlines also provide services to the city. With the advent of Southwest, some of the dynamics will change. Frontier will also expand its piece in the city.

Rochester, New York, is an excellent growth area for Frontier. It is a populous city where air service has been slightly restricted over the past few years, even during the pandemic. So, Frontier has the chance to jump in and come in with a relatively low risk route. As demand increases and Frontier flights become full, the airline could use its new aircraft to expand its flights from Rochester.

About Frontier Airlines

Frontier is an ultra-cost airline (ULCC) based in Denver. His model is focused on flying from point to point with the sale of unbundled passengers. This means that things like seat selection, suitcases and food and drinks cost on the go.

Frontier is engaged in a successful stock market move that has cost the airline more than $ 200 million, after deducting the costs of the IPO and selling shares belonging to existing stakeholders before the IPO. Nevertheless, Frontier Airlines must help expand, pay off its debt or sharpen its liquidity, while the future is still uncertain.

Frontier Airlines is expected to be one of the carriers that will benefit most from the summer boom. Domestic vacationers come back strongly and prefer to opt for cheap vacations. As Frontier further expands its low-frequency point-to-point route portfolio, the airline is well positioned where passengers want to go this summer.

Are you going to fly any of these new Frontier routes? Do you think the expansion of Frontier is a good idea? Let us know in the comments!
