Frogwares ask people not to buy The Sinking City on Steam

After The Sinking City returns to Steam, Frogwares asks that you not buy it.

According to a tweet from Frogwares, the version of The sinking city for sale on Steam was not created by the team.

The studio has not released any additional updates on the matter, but it probably has to do with a dispute between developer and game publisher Nacon, formerly Big Ben Interactive (thanks, GI.biz).

Back in 2020, the studio took the game off the market and terminated its contract with Nacon due to claims that it owed the publisher money for complying with milestones, which resulted in Nrogon Frogwares owning almost € 1 million in royalties.

Last month, the game was returned to digital store windows due to a ruling taken by the Paris Court of Appeal, which states that Frogwares terminated his contract with Nacon in a “manifestly illegal manner”.

Last week, when the game was released on PS5, Frogwares issued a statement saying it was the developer and publisher of the version; however, the PS4 version has a separate publisher and different game IDs. This is due to the ongoing legal and ‘technical situation’, which has led to the lack of platform upgrade for PS4.

Hopefully, the issue between the two will be resolved soon, and Frogwares will provide more information about the version now available via Steam.
