Friends mourn the death of family dead in a fiery plane crash in Lyon Township

LYON DORP, Mich. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) continues its investigation into the fatal plane crash that took place on Saturday 2 January in the municipality of Lyon.

Family and friends remember the family of three who lost their lives after their small plane crashed into a house in Lyon Township. Those who knew David Compo, his wife Michelle and their son Dawson still mourn the sudden and fatal death of the family.

Compo was the former president of the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Southeast Michigan. According to the association, his term ended on New Year’s Eve. An experienced pilot, Compo, flew to Canton, Georgia on Dec. 29 and the family returned home Saturday, the HBA said.

“He was a wonderful family man. Only his family was for him in the first place, “said friend Katie Hallett about David Compo.

All three died together in the accident that shocked the entire community. And many still wonder what went wrong.

‘… We flew many times with his plane. “He was a great pilot and just a fun compassionate man to be with,” said friend Todd Hallett.

While David Compo was the former HBA president, his 18-year-old son prepared him for his future and he was largely involved with the Eagle Scouts. Dawson Compo also recently studied at Detroit Catholic Central High School and takes his education even further.

“I was an eagle adviser in the troop. So I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Dawson, ”said Bill Phillips. ‘(Dawson) was a very capable young man. He basically went cross country, and did well in his academy. He was currently a first-year student at Michigan State (University). ”

The work that Dawson or his father would have done would not have been said had it not been for this tragic incident.

The family of five who live in the Lyon Township home where the plane crashed are doing well – everyone was able to get out of the house safely.
