David MacMillan is not a first answer or healthcare worker. So he was surprised when a Giant Food pharmacist asked him and his friend if they wanted the Moderna vaccine.
He posted his experience on Friday at the Giant in Northeast DC on TikTok.

“She turned to us and was like, ‘Hey, I have two doses of vaccine and I’ll have to throw it away if I don’ t give it to anyone. We close within ten minutes, do you want the Moderna vaccine? he conveyed in the video.
MacMillan did not hesitate.
The law school student posted the video of how he gets the injection to spread facts about the vaccine, alleviate concerns and dispel myths and rumors.

The report garnered hundreds of thousands of opinions and thousands of comments.
‘It’s important that when there is so much misinformation going around that people can see that it’s a good thing, it’s a positive thing. “We have to be excited about the pandemic,” MacMillan said.

Giant issued a statement supporting the actions of the pharmacist, explaining that the health workers who were to receive the doses did not show up. Giant said the DC Department of Health makes it clear that if it will expire extra doses, it should be given to everyone.
“The Moderna vaccine is valuable and life-saving, and we are glad we did not waste it and gave this couple each a dose,” Giant said in a statement.
MacMillan said someone did not need the vaccine to get the vaccine. The situation was to use it or lose it.
He plans to return later this month for a second dose.
