Friend of missing woman in US Virgin Islands, who verbally insults former stepdaughter: ex-wife

EXCLUSIVE: The ex-wife of US yacht captain Ryan Bane has revealed new allegations about his alleged abusive past one month after his British girlfriend Sarm Heslop disappeared after a night out at a bar in the US Virgin Islands.

Corie Stevenson told Fox News on Thursday that he had lost his temper “dozens of times” with her daughter Grace, then a predecessor, and that it had gotten so bad that she could not leave them alone when she went to class or work do not go.

“I could not leave Ryan alone with Grace at home because he would be so bad with her,” she said.

In one case, Stevenson said Grace, now 20, was 8 or 11 years old. According to Stevenson, Bane sent her upstairs to find a television remote control. But the girl does not find it and goes back to tell him.

He apparently got angry and shouted in her face when he got it himself.

“He was so pissed that he pulled up, pulled her along, picked her up, threw her on the bed,” Stevenson said. ‘There are many such cases that I only found out a little later. Grace has not said anything for some time. ‘

Bane’s lawyer told Fox News on Thursday that they were “making no additional comments at this time.”

On another occasion, Stevenson said her ex-husband gave the girl, then 10, a slingshot. The mother wanted to set some house rules, including not using it indoors and not shooting animals, but Bane allayed her concerns, she said.

When Stevenson returned from a grocery store one day, she said she came in to see Bane screaming at her daughter – who had splashed a sticky toy on a glass door with the slingshot.

“I mean red face, a vein shooting out of his neck, screaming insanely,” she said. “I step in, and Grace is standing there hysterically crying – and I’m like, ‘What the hell just happened?’

“He was like, ‘She could have broken the window,'” Stevenson said. “He was insane. I just grabbed her and left the house. ‘

When the couple divorced, Stevenson said Bane recently took her daughter’s dog, Hunter, with whom he was photographed, to the Virgin Islands.

According to Stevenson’s version of events, Bane violated a residence order and she called the police. An officer accidentally slipped the dog out of the house, and Bane has had it ever since.

As Fox News reported earlier, Bane was jailed for defeating Stevenson in 2011 after a drunken night at a wedding – and his probation was then revoked for violating the terms of his release.

Stevenson married Bane in 2008 – and the two divorced in 2014. She told Fox News he was verbal and physically abusive and could quickly lose his temper, especially around women.

But there were signs of trouble long before the chaotic rift, Stevenson said.

“If we had alcohol in the house, he would drink it until it was gone,” she claims. “Pills the same way.”

She also claims that he killed the wildlife she fed in their garden more than once.

She told Fox News in March that he had killed a friendly squirrel in their backyard and left it in the freezer. On another occasion, she said he shot and slaughtered a wedding and wanted to carry it out for her, claiming she knew she had left food for it.

When she heard that he had soon picked up anchor and left Frank Bay, where his boat, the Siren Song, was moored during Heslop’s disappearance, Stevenson said she immediately started carrying a gun with her. And she said she slept with a gun to her side during their divorce proceedings.

“I wore my concealed carry, I usually don’t have my gun on me,” she said. “But since it started, it’s been on me every day. Everywhere I go, it’s with me.”

Bane, a licensed pilot, was able to travel discreetly to virtually anywhere, she claims.

Stevenson said she hopes that by sharing her story, she can add urgency to the case for missing persons.

Bane reported Heslop missing early in the morning on March 8. She was last seen in public the night before with Bane at a bar on St. John seen in the US Virgin Islands.

After police called 911 to say she disappeared from the 47-foot catamaran at about 2:30 a.m., police said they had instructed to contact the U.S. Coast Guard for a search and rescue. He allegedly waited about 10 hours to do so.

Bane did not want to allow investigators to search the Siren Song, and police did not call him a suspect. The U.S. Coast Guard did go on board, but Bane allegedly banned service members from searching the cabin, resulting in a number of quotes.

Stevenson, who knew Bane was growing up and attended the same high school, said police who did not search the vessel were “the craziest thing I’re ever heard of.”

“If I was looking for the last place where they knew the girl was, I would think that would be one of the first things they do,” she said.

Virgin Islands investigators have repeatedly refused to answer questions about whether they are seeking a warrant for the Siren Song, and whether Bane is considered a person of interest, citing the ongoing investigation.

However, Jerry Forrester, a former FBI agent and private investigator who specializes in the Caribbean, said it would not be difficult to determine a possible cause and get a warrant for the last place a missing person was. person has not been seen.

“They have enough possible cause, I think,” he told Fox News last week. “She’s missing, and she was on the boat … They just do not do their job.”
