Fresno dentist offering COVID-19 vaccine shots from his office

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – A Valley dentist is doing his part during the pandemic by not only helping patients fight cavities, but also now offering COVID-19 vaccinations from his dental office in Fresno.

“It’s funny when patients come in, they say I did not even know I could get it at the dental office,” said dr. Alex Denes at Fresno Dental Studio said.

In January, the state approved a state of emergency waiver allowing dentists in California to administer the COVID-19 vaccine during the pandemic.

Dr. Alex Denes and his wife, dr. Claudia Denes, completed various training and safety courses commissioned by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The process also required them to buy a special freezer to store doses of the vaccine.

“We had to go through a lot of approval processes and site inspections. We built an online scheduling system that everyone can use so we can vaccinate patients and non-patients as well,” Denes said.

Dr. Denes said he decided to open his dental office as a way to help the community during the pandemic.

Eligible individuals can receive the Moderna survey here after hours and on Saturdays.

“Of course the vaccine is provided by the government, so we do not ask anyone for anything. The most important thing is that they use the online appointment system – they get all the paperwork in order so that we can streamline the process so that there is a win. when they come in. ‘

According to dr. Denes. his office receives between 200 and 300 doses of Moderna vaccine per week.

He hopes by offering more local dentists to assist him in giving the shot.

“I think I’m one of the few. I do not want to say that I am the only one because I want to encourage others to do the same and hopefully they will be more,” he said.
