Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has made a significant change to the starting lineup after losing the team for the third time in a row. Hoping for a four-game game against the Utah Jazz, the no. 1, Vogel turned to Markieff Morris and Talen Horton-Tucker to replace Kyle Kuzma and Wesley Matthews.
The new look has stood their ground against the Jazz’s dominant starting lineup. The first round of substitutes for both sides took place on the first quarter of 6:43 and the game was tied at 13. It was the opposite of the usual slow start to which the Lakers tended.
“Just to give us a little more attacking attack with the ability to ‘play Kieff a bit in the post,'” Vogel explained about the changes in the set-up. ‘Having a ball handler out there with’ Source ‘was something we wanted to do after the overtime match the other night.
‘Languages or Alex was there with him all night. We just give ourselves a slightly different look after losing three in a row. ‘
Although LA blew up, it was not the starting lineup’s fault. Aside from LeBron James and Horton-Tucker – who were a minus 20 and minus 16 respectively – the entrees actually fared better than most of the banking unit.
Clearly, the Lakers urgently need to recover and reach the All Star break without damaging their record any further. They only play four games before a nine-day gap, but must face the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings in the process.
The Lakers hopeful Schroder returns Friday
Dennis Schroder – who had to undergo a seven-day quarantine as part of the NBA’s health and safety protocols – missed the Lakers’ last four games. They lost all four of them, which made his return all the more important.
If Schroder is still going to test negative, he should be in the Lakers series again on Friday night. They will need his defense and the creation if they take on Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers.
