The plan is to have 333 vaccination slots a day, for about 1,000 shots in the arm each week, as long as vaccines are available.

“Our goal is to receive an increase in the vaccine from the state in the coming weeks and months, and this clinic can contribute to the number of community members who will be vaccinated,” said Appleton Public Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht, said.

Representatives from the departments of Ascension Wisconsin, ThedaCare, Outagamie County Public Health and Appleton Public Health visited the clinic at the Exhibition Center, W. Lawrence St., on Thursday afternoon. 355 in Appleton, announced.

‘I heard from members of our community in the city of Appleton and neighboring communities who were frustrated about where to get the vaccine, where to sign up and they were worried about how they would gain access to this critical resource, and this clinic provides clarity, ”said Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford.

Three conference rooms are now part of the mass clinic: space where people who signed up will learn about the Pfizer vaccine, a curtain area for the shot itself, and then an area that can then be observed by health officials.

A second appointment will be made during their first visit to receive their second final dose needed to have the vaccine effective.

Health officials warn people that it can be difficult to get in because they expect a lot of interest.

‘It’s also frustrating for us. It is likely that the limited slots will fill up very quickly, and we have to anticipate that people will be disappointed, and then we will be disappointed, but that is the reality, ‘Eggebrecht admitted. ‘We are working on moving forward every week until we do not have the vaccine to do so. We want the vaccine to be the limiting factor. ”

“The response so far from the community has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Dr. Tom Nichols of Ascension Wisconsin said. ‘People are excited about this vaccine. People see that light at the end of the tunnel and know that we are getting closer to the finish line. ”

‘One of the reasons it took us a bit in the Fox Cities to get this clinic up and running is because of our approach. Our approach is about partnership. You will see their agency logos and organization logos on the boards around the board, hope you take a moment to look at them. “There is so much involved in making this happen, and it is a testament to the strength of our communities,” said Mayor Woodford.

Appleton will soon be taking coronavirus tests at the Reid Golf Course Clubhouse, 1100 E. Fremont St., effective Monday, February 1st. A test is currently scheduled from 08:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Wednesday until 10 March. No testing will be done on February 15 for compliance with President’s Day, a federal holiday.
