While it does not remain official, another strong report indicates that the Lions are appointing Dan Campbell as the team’s head coach. This one comes from FOX Sports Inner Circle Jay Glazer and a day after several NFL.com reports also indicated that the Lions will rent Campbell as soon as he is available.
Campbell is currently the assistant head coach and coach for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday night in the NFC Division Round. The Lions cannot reconnect with Campbell until the Saints are out of the national season.
Glazer made his statement on the FOX pregame show.
The Lions this week appointed Rams director of collegiate reconnaissance Brad Holmes as GM. He and Campbell have no clear commitments. Campbell is a former NFL team player who played for the Lions at the end of his career. He has been with the Saints since 2016.
