Four young girls were arrested Saturday in the deadly stabbing of a 15-year-old girl at a Louisiana Walmart, authorities said.
The girls, aged 12 to 14, were in a fight with the older victim in the store in Lake Charles, the sheriff’s office of Calcasieu said on Facebook on Sunday.
The victim died at a local hospital.
One of the suspects is charged with second-degree murder, authorities said. The other three are facing charges of principal to second-degree murder.
Calcasieu parish sheriff Tony Mancuso rejected the violence.
“This was the third murder in six months where juveniles were between 11 and 16 years old,” Mancuso told WWL-TV.
‘They come from all backgrounds, all races. I feel like we have a problem in our community that we need to address and address. “
Mancuso pleaded for help from parents in the community.
“I’m asking you tonight to take control of our parents,” Mancuso said.
“It’s not something we can police ourselves out of,” he said. “I just do not feel it is a police matter. It’s a matter of parenting. ”
