Four 2022 recruits for whom the Longhorns must strive

Getting Texas back on the national yard scene was one of the biggest tasks Steve Sarkisian had to do early on. In-state recruiting would always be okay for a program like Texas, but to be able to dive into other states are the national championship-caliber teams.

A big step was taken on Saturday when five-star full-back Maalik Murphy committed himself to the Longhorns. He is the no. 2 pro-style quarters in the country coming from Gardena, California. Murphy has one of the highest ceilings in the entire 2022 class, but will bring much more than just talent to the field.

Recruiting momentum is a real thing, and Texas needs to be able to make money after bringing in a big name quarterback. Sarkisian has the ability to land some of the best offensive talent in the country because of his resume in Alabama. Taking in a five-star full-back and the top-flight in the state is an excellent foundation. Now the Longhorns must stand behind the skill position and attacking line.

Here are four prospects Texas should strive for after Murphy’s commitment.
