Fossil Pokémon from the sword and shield appear as hugs

The Pokemon Company will release four new plushes inspired by Pokémon from Sword and Shield on April 29, 2021 in Japan. These are the four fossils Arctozolt, Dracozolt, Dracovish and Arctovish. The stuffed animals are part of the Pokémon Dolls collection of goods offered by The Pokemon Company. They will each sell for 1,320 JPY (about $ 11.90 USD).

Similar to the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs in London, the four fossil Pokémon of Pokemon sword and shield are very inaccurate representations of what it looked like in life. Thanks to dr. Cara Liss converting their body parts, the Pokémon have problems with basic biological functions. Dracovish, for example, cannot breathe when he is not under water and Arctovish’s mouth is on top of his head. However, the Pokémon plush, with their round shapes and cartoonish eyes, offer a more adorable approach, rather than the potentially slightly hideous representations in the game.

The fossil Pokémon gets quite some time in the spotlight. Not only will they appear in soft form, but they also made their first anime debut in 2021. Episode 50 of Pokemon Journeys: The Series followed by Ash and Goh meeting Dr. Cara Liss and acquiring their own fossil Pokémon. Arctozolt joined Goh’s team, while Dracovish joined Ash’s. It was Ash’s first fossil Pokémon since the series began in 1997.

Pokémon Dolls is a collection of Pokémon plush similar to the Comfy Friends series released in 2020. Other merchandise released earlier in 2021 includes the Sweet Scent range of spring-inspired goods and kitchenware.

The fossil Pokémon picks from Sword and Shield will appear in brick-and-mortar stores in Japan on April 29. However, if you want to buy it at the online store, it will appear on April 27, 2021. There is no global release date for them yet.
