Fortnite’s Concert Series Returns with Rocket League Rave

Epic Games revives its in-game Fortnite concert series with a virtual performance by the electronic artist Kaskade over the course of the March 26 weekend. The concert takes place inside FortniteParty Royale game mode, and it will also include links to Rocket League‘s upcoming season, as the popular competitive soccer game for cars is being developed by Epic studio Psyonix.

There is a lot of, shall we say, corporate synergy going on here. Psyonix has a long-standing partnership with the electronic music label Monstercat to raise leading producers of home, bass and other genres. Rocket League‘s soundtrack in the game. And Cascade just released its Monstercat debut, called an EP, last fall Reset.

Now Cascade will act Reset in its entirety Fortnite, while his actions are followed by the debut of the Rocket League season’s new trailer. The producer and DJ will apparently also ‘manage’ Rocket League cars ‘to different stages in the game and’ arrive at the new Neon Fields for a festive style. ‘Oh yes, and the concert can also be seen with friends from the social video program Houseparty, another of Epic’s acquisitions of the past few years.

Fortnite‘s concert series, which began in 2019 with a record performance in play by electronic artist Marshmello, became a surprise hit during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to experience the kind of live events that all but disappeared last year. Travis Scott’s Fortnite the performance attracted more than 12 million people in April last year, and the company’s Party Royale mode, which launched around the same time, has become an avenue for all kinds of in-game events and cross-cultural spectacles what has changed Fortnite in a kind of hybrid media destination.

Epic has since expanded the technology setup that makes these live events possible with a new studio space in Los Angeles, which began using it in September for a three-week concert series. It seems the developer is ready to return to the live events of the frontier, which sounds like a true transmedia experience featuring the many apps, games and music connections.

The Cascade Concert will be presented on March 26 at 20:00 PM in Party Royale, and then on March 27 at 09:00 ET and 14:00 ET. It will be part of the following Llama-rama ”event, where players can earn in-game items and other rewards for playing both Rocket League and Fortnite, begins March 25 and lasts until April 9.
