Fortnite creator Epic Games draws its attention to film. Deadline reports that Epic will lend its Unreal Engine technology to the animation studio Hook Up, as well as the firm DuermeVela and FilmSharks, as an investment in the upcoming film Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh was inspired by the mythological hero of the same name and follows his titular character on a mission to attain immortality. Argentine filmmaker Tomás Lipgot will direct.
The film is funded by Epic’s MegaGrants initiative, a $ 100 million pledge that developers, educators, filmmakers and more can use Unreal Engine for their projects. Display as Westworld and The Mandalorian has already used Unreal for camera effects and digital sets. Gilgamesh will be available in both English and Spanish.
