The new founder, Elizabeth Holmes, is founder and former CEO of Theranos.

Holmes is expected to give birth in July and according to the newly filed court documents, she is requesting a delay in her federal trial. Both Holmes’ lawyers and the prosecutor asked for the trial. If approved, she will stand trial on Aug. 31 on several federal charges of fraud.

Holmes is accused of cheating the company’s investors out of millions of dollars after promising a new kind of blood test. It was claimed that the test would perform a multitude of blood tests to detect everything

high cholesterol
to cancer, with a simple pin prick.

The company raised more than $ 700 million from investors on the promise of such a test. By August 2015, the FDA began investigating Theranos and found ‘major inaccuracies’ in its tests.

Holmes, along with former Theranos president Sunny Balwani, is charged with nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in 2018. She subsequently resigned from her role as CEO.
