Former Penn State Quarterback Will Transfer Levis to Kentucky

Another quarter will join the Big Blue Nation. On Friday afternoon, Will Levis announced that he would be taking over from Penn State to the University of Kentucky.

Levis entered the transfer portal last week. He is studying this spring and coming to Lexington with three years to qualify.

Originally from Madison, Connecticut, the new offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s northeastern connections played an important role in the landing of Levis. He was a former three-star prospect and was a first-year student when Penn State lost to Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl.

Over the past two seasons, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound athlete has started two careers. Levis completed 61 of the 102 passes (59.8%) for 644 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. James Franklin often uses it as a “tempo change” option that can make the ball run much better than Sean Clifford. His best game took place in Nebraska last year. With 21-3 behind as he entered the game, Levis threw for 219 yards, including a 74-yard pass for Pat Freiermuth, and chased for 61 yards on 18 carries when the Nittany Lions came up just to pull in an incredible comeback Omaha .

Even though he was used as a runner, Levis has a cannon. He has no problem delivering arrows with his right arm. Coen will have to help him use more touch as a passerby once he arrives in Lexington.

Kentucky fans understand that in 2019 there is no such thing as ‘too many quarterbacks’. After the Wildcats finished in the bottom six of the FBS the past two seasons in passing yards per game, they need the help they need to improve the pass offense. By adding Levis, Coen injects more talent into the quarterback competition between Beau Allen and Joey Gatewood. May the best man win.
