Former MMA fighter Tyler East shot dead in New Mexico

Former MMA fighter Tyler East was shot dead in New Mexico this week, authorities said.

The 30-year-old East was found dead Monday in a residence in Los Lunas, about 40 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico police said Tuesday.

The sheriff of the province of Valencia responded to the house during a call for domestic violence and found that a woman and a man, later identified as the East, were suffering from gunshot wounds, the release read.

The New Mexico Police Bureau of Investigation has learned that East shot his girlfriend and dragged her out of the dormitory during a domestic dispute. He was then allegedly shot by another man in the house.

According to police, East was pronounced dead at the scene. His girlfriend was transported to a hospital in Albuquerque where she has been in a stable condition since Tuesday.

East, the brother of former UFC fighter Cody East, competed 21 times as a professional MMA fighter from 2009 to 2016, according to MMA Junkie, a news website covering mixed martial arts.

Nicknamed “The Beast”, his professional MMA record was 15-6-0.

He was knocked out by Brian Heden in October 2016 in his last fight at Legacy FC 60.

East also has a history of running up to the law, reports report.
