Former ‘I’m a Mac’ actor Justin Long casts shadow at M1 Apple Silicon in new Intel advertising campaign

Intel invokes the services of former ‘I’m a Mac’ actor Justin Long in a series of new ads in which Apple’s latest M1 processors are tailored to be inferior to newer laptops used by Intel processors powered.

Long is known for his role in Apple’s popular TV advertising campaign ‘Get a Mac’ from the 2000s. Long starred in a series of commercials called ‘Justin Gets Real’ on Intel’s YouTube channel, and began each video by introducing himself as’ … Justin – just a real person who makes a real comparison between Mac and PC do. ‘

In one ad, Long promotes the flexibility of Windows laptops, specifically the Lenovo Yoga 9i over a MacBook Pro. In another video, Long meets a computer user on the MSI Gaming Stealth 15M laptop powered by an Intel Core i7. Long then asks for a Mac, before quickly agreeing with the computer user that “no one is playing on a Mac.”

Other ads include the long time it took to bring Intel’s attention to Apple’s lack of touchscreen Macs, the inability to connect more than one external monitor to ‘M1’ Macs, and the variety of options available to laptops Intel powered.

Intel launched a similar marketing campaign in February with a series of tweets highlighting the ‘shortcomings’ of Apple’s ‌M1‌-powered Macs compared to Intel-powered computers. In November, Apple released its first Apple Silicon and is expected to completely switch its entire range from Intel in the next few years.

This is not the first time Long has appeared in advertising campaigns for Apple competitors. In 2017, the actor starred in a series of Huawei commercials promoting the Mate 9 smartphone.
