Former Buffalo Bills full-back Doug Flutie should have had extra Flutie Flakes this morning.
During today’s Celebrity Sweat Flag soccer tournament, Flutie won the WWE 24/7 championship belt.
The premise of the title, as you can see from its name, is that it can be won at any time. WWE Superstar R-Truth has held the title regularly since its launch. The wrestler was one of the many WWE superstars who took part in the flag football tournament on Saturday. At halftime, R-Truth was distracted by the likes of Cesaro, The Miz and Titus O’Neil. With R-Truth’s focus elsewhere, the former Bills quarterback rolled the wrestler for the three scores. You can see the pen below.
Unfortunately for Flutie, the title reign was short-lived. R-Truth wins Flutie to win the title for the 49th time.
Flutie played 1998-2000 with the Bills. He made the Pro Bowl and, along with Buffalo, won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award in 1998, leading the team to an 8-3 record when he started. In 1999, Flutie scored 10-5 as the starting quarterback of the team. He was relieved in the final and lost the starting lineup in the playoffs to Rob Johnson, a decision that still upsets many factors to this day.
