Forgot COVID-19? CDC offers tips on surviving zombie apocalypse

ATLANTA – Because 2021 is not terrible enough with a global pandemic in our hands, there could be a zombie apocalypse this year as well, and the CDC wants you to be prepared.

Nostradamus, a locked-in member of the “seer” Mount Rushmore, predicted that a zombie apocalypse would occur in 2021 after a Russian scientist created a biological weapon that produces a virus that turns people into, well, zombies.

As if you do not know yet, it is currently 2021.

Because one of the main responsibilities of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is to prepare people for the worst-case scenarios in the event of a disaster, the agency has a blogpos to help people get through a possible zombie apocalypse.

In the event that walking dead take over the planet, the CDC advises those who are still alive to prepare as in a ‘real emergency’, which is the point of the whole post.

An emergency kit during a zombie apocalypse can come in handy and should include:

  • Water (1 liter per person per day)
  • Food (stock up on non-perishable items you eat regularly)
  • Medicine (this includes prescription and non-prescription medicine)
  • Tools and supplies (utility knife, adhesive tape, radio with batteries, etc.)
  • Sanitation and Hygiene (bleach, soap, towels, etc.)
  • Clothing and bedding (change of clothes for each family member and blankets)
  • Important documents (copies of your driving license, passport and birth certificate just to name a few)
  • First Aid Supplies (although you’ve crazy if a zombie bites you, you can use these supplies to treat basic cuts and tear wounds you can get during a tornado or hurricane)

The CDC also advises on the need for an emergency plan for your family if they are still on their own.

Finally, if or when zombies begin their takeover, the CDC has written that they will be ready.

“If zombies started roaming the streets, CDC would do an investigation like any other disease outbreak. CDC would provide technical assistance to cities, states or international partners dealing with a zombie infestation.”

“Not only would scientists try to identify the cause and cure of the zombie outbreak, but CDC and other federal agencies would send medical teams and first responders to help those in those areas.”
