Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) – Will Ford or GM Stock grow more by 2022?

Every week, Benzinga conducts a sentiment survey to find out what traders are most excited about, interested in or thinking about while managing and building their personal portfolios.

We interviewed a group of over 500 readers or shares of Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) or General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) will grow the most by 2022.

Ford vs. GM Stock

Ford designs, manufactures, markets and operates a range of Lincoln vehicles, trucks, sport utility vehicles, electric vehicles and luxury vehicles worldwide. The company has about 14% market share in the United States and about 7% in Europe.

Ford’s mobility segment designs and builds mobility services; and provides self-driving system development and vehicle integration, autonomous vehicle research and engineering, and autonomous vehicle transport-as-service network development services.

General Motors has seven brands and operates in 2021 under four segments: GM North America, GM International, Cruise and GM Financial. The United States now has four brands: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.

The company remains the market leader in the US with approximately 17% in 2020.

The company also sells trucks, crossovers and electric cars to retailers, as well as customers on the fleet, including daily rental car companies, commercial fleet customers, rental companies and governments.

Electric vehicle manufacturers and EV service companies were in the spotlight for 2020. With traditional car manufacturers like Ford and GM coming out with compelling electrical options, consumers have more choices than ever.

The growing demand for EVs is not surprising. Thanks to the increase in popularity of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and Nine (NYSE: NIO) and as EVs become more mainstream, people are seeing many benefits from owning an EV, including cost savings during ownership and much lower maintenance needs.

Readers who contributed to our study mainly expressed their thoughts on whether GM or Ford will become the more capable, successful American EV manufacturer by 2022.

Although sentiment was incredibly close, 52% of readers believe that General Motors’ shares will grow more, especially than expected, the EV and Cruise self-driving unit testing and developing autonomous car technologies will outperform Ford in the short term .

This survey was conducted by Benzinga in December 2020 and contains the responses of a diverse population of adults aged 18 or older.

Joining the survey was completely voluntary, with no incentives offered by potential respondents. The study reflects the results of more than 500 adults.
