America’s first new major airline in almost 15 years – Avelo Airlines – premieres today at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) with travel-inspired routes and low fares. Introductory one-time fares start at $ 19 on all routes.

Avelo offers daily low fares, coupled with a smooth and convenient travel experience, and flies uninterrupted routes between BUR and 11 destinations across West American flights. Visitors can start on aveloair.com from 08:00 PDT / 11:00 EDT, flights from 28 April 2021 with current availability until 15 September 2021.

“Avelo has a simple goal – Inspire Travel,” said Andrew Levy, founder, chairman and CEO of Avelo. ‘People are ready to reconnect with family and friends and explore new places. Avelo is another and better type of airline, built from scratch to provide an affordable, convenient and caring travel experience. ”

The Avelo leadership team represents more than 200 years of collective aviation experience. Formerly co-founder and president of Allegiant Air and CFO of United Airlines, Levy has more than two decades of experience in airlines. In addition to Allegiant and United, Avelo’s leadership team also includes former senior executives of Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Northwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines.

“After more than 20 years of an ever-shrinking consumer choice, the American public wants and deserves more options and lower rates,” Levy said. “Avelo offers both – along with a refreshing and comfortable experience.”

LA’s best airport

Avelo chose Hollywood Burbank Airport as its first base. Important considerations were BUR’s convenience for Greater Los Angeles, the customer-friendly compact size and the lower cost. In fact, Fodor’s Travel BUR calls it ‘Best US Airport’ in 2019.

“Locals know BUR is the best airport in LA,” Levy said. ‘No airport is close to downtown LA, Hollywood, Pasadena and Southern California’s many other attractions other than BUR. As the airport in the San Fernando Valley, BUR offers you easy access to an abundance of beautiful and relaxing new uninterrupted destinations in California and the Western USA. For those considering LA for their next vacation or long weekend getaway, BUR is the ultra-convenient, stress-free gateway to Greater LA and the world-famous fun-in-the-sun activities in Southern California are known for it. ”

Whether customers leave or arrive, BUR promises a refreshing experience with no hassle. BUR offers seamless loading and unloading at the veranda, smaller crowds, shorter walking distance from curb to gate, unmatched speed for delivery of plane-to-carousels and shorter TSA security lines. Customers will be at their gate quickly, while also saving on parking and ground transportation traveling to and from the airport.

“The Burbank Airport in Hollywood is an example of the comfortable, caring and smooth experience that distinguishes Avelo,” Levy said. ‘We are grateful for the enthusiastic partnership with which Frank Miller, Executive Director of BUR, the Commissioners and staff of the airport welcomed us. It’s not surprising why BUR is LA’s favorite airport. ”

Recreation Destinations

Avelo will initially serve a collection of beautiful and relaxing destinations that are not currently offered at BUR. Avelo’s first routes focus on outdoor recreation, national parks and coastal and mountainous terrain – as well as providing air service for a growing population of remote workers:

  • Arcata / Eureka, CA (ACV), Victorian charm in the heart of the Redwood Coast, California
  • Bend / Redmond, OR (RDM), where the snow-covered cascades surround the high desert
  • Bozeman, MT (BZN), the driveway to Big Sky Country and Yellowstone National Park
  • Eugene, OR (EUG), where the Willamette Valley begins
  • Grand Junction, CO (GJT), where the Colorado River meets dramatic red rock landscapes
  • Medford, OR (MFR), a starting point to the Rogue Valley and Oregon wine country
  • Pasco, WA (PSC), 300 days of sunshine in the heart of Washington’s wine country
  • Phoenix / Mesa, AZ (AZA), a stress-free airport alternative to a year-round desert oasis
  • Odgen, UT (OGD), a convenient Salt Lake City alternative to the famous Utah mountains
  • Rescue, CA (RDD), 600 square miles of state and national parks, attracts the adventurous
  • Santa Rosa, CA (STS), the gateway to California’s wine country

Pay less. Travel more

The airline will initially operate single-class, fuel-efficient Boeing 737-800 189-seat aircraft, providing a more comfortable experience than the local aircraft frequently used by airports. The surprisingly low rates of Avelo’s everyday rates do not include any change fees or call center fees for customers who prefer to book by phone.

Avelo also offers several unbundled low-cost travel enhancement options in the industry that give customers the flexibility to pay for what they value:

  • First check bag: $ 10
  • Hand luggage bag: $ 35
  • Priority step: $ 10
  • Pet in the cabin: $ 95
  • Set options: Customers can choose from different seating options. Avelo’s 3737-800 aircraft with 189 seats offers 129 standard slim 29-inch seats. Pre-reserved window and aisle seats start at $ 5. Avelo aircraft also have 60 seats with a pitch of 31 to 38 centimeters. These seats start at $ 18.

Fly with confidence

Avelo takes all precautions to protect the health of the customer at the airport and during their flight. Avelo planes are regularly cleaned and disinfected. Lacquer tables, galleys, toilets and all other contact surfaces are disinfected every night with disinfectant Calla 1452 (hospital grade). In addition to daily disinfection and cleaning, Avelo regularly treats the entire aircraft with an advanced antimicrobial protection agent that kills viruses, germs and bacteria on all surfaces. This Zoono treatment forms a colorless, odorless protective shield and is safe for human contact.

In addition, the cabin air is refreshed every two to three minutes by the Boeing 737’s air filtration and ventilation system from above. The system directs airflow from the ceiling to the bottom of the seat – not from front to rear – and significantly reduces particle movement through the cabin. All Avelo aircraft operate with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters that remove 99.9% of the airborne particles, including viruses such as the coronavirus, in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

All customers receive a convenience package containing a hand sanitizer, as well as a bottled water and a small snack.

Federal law requires everyone – including Avelo Customers and Crewmembers – to wear a face mask at the airport and on the plane (unless they are eating or drinking). Avelo also encourages, where possible, best practices at a social distance.
