Florida State Unveils Expanded Soccer Facility

The state of Florida on Wednesday unveiled new versions for a long-awaited stand-alone football facility that will bring the Seminoles in line with the best programs across the country.

As rival Clemson made headlines for its modern facility, Miami built its own facility for the first time and Florida announced plans for a stand-alone facility, and the state of Florida fell further behind. The Seminoles have never had their own stand-alone football facility and share their current space not only with other sports, but also with student classrooms.

The planned facility of 150,000 square meters will include positional meeting rooms, an upgraded dressing room and weight room that includes cryotherapy, a hyperbaric room and a large room, a dedicated recruiting lounge and suite, and areas for enhancing virtual reality / performance.

In 2018, Florida State and Seminole Boosters unveiled a campaign to raise $ 100 million for a new football facility, scholarships and additional sports-specific projects. The state of Florida recently reached the $ 100 million pledge target, with more than $ 43 million raised for the privately funded soccer facility.

The new CEO of Seminoles Boosters, Michael Alford, and Mike Norvell, the coach, made it a priority to complete the plans for the facility as soon as possible.

“The response by our supporters during the Unconquered Campaign shows their commitment to Florida State and our athletics program,” Athletic Director David Coburn said in a statement. “We need these additional facilities to meet the needs of our football program and to enable us to expand existing shared areas in the Moore Athletics Center and improve our ability to support all of our sports. I know that these improvements to the facilities have a major impact across the board. ‘

The next step in the process is to finalize the project cost before it officially starts.
