Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis strikes a chord with what is known as ‘entourage tourism’.
Government Ron DeSantis announced this week that Florida will soon need proof of residency for people receiving COVID-19 vaccines.
People arriving in Seminole County, Florida by Wednesday will be asked to indicate their ID or an account for Florida, according to WoFTV, a subsidiary of ABC News Orlando. The new policy, which applies to state-run vaccination sites, will later be extended to other provinces in the state.
‘We just do [vaccines] for residents of Florida, Florida, “DeSantis said during a Tuesday news conference.” You must live here full time or at least part time. “
The changes come in the wake of concerns about ‘vaccination tourism’, following an executive order issued by DeSantis, which has been vaccinated for anyone aged 65 and over but does not require proof of residence.
The vaccination of vaccinations resulted in long queues. Some older people even camped in grass chairs overnight in hopes of being vaccinated.
According to the state health council, Florida reported 1.6 million COVID-19 cases and 24,578 deaths due to the virus.
As of Wednesday, Florida has distributed 2.5 million vaccines and administered about 1.2 million of them, which equates to 5,773 vaccines administered for every 100,000 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
