Florida is offering to host the 2021 Summer Olympics amid speculation that Tokyo may withdraw from the Games due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a Monday letter to the International Olympic Committee, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis raised the issue of hosting the Games.
“Today I am writing to encourage you to move the 2021 Olympics from Tokyo, Japan, to the United States of America and more specifically to Florida,” Patronis wrote.
Patronis is considering the growing population of Florida and the introduction of the coronavirus vaccine to make the offer.
‘Unlike other states, the COVID-19 vaccine does not just sit on the shelf, wrapped in bureaucratic government; it is moving fast to protect our communities, ”Patronis wrote.
