Florentino Perez has a theory on why Manchester United and Man City quit the Super League

Florentino Perez believes all six English clubs have withdrawn from the Super League after one of them began to feel itchy over the widely condemned proposals.

The Super League is on fire just three days after the launch after all six Premier League teams, as well as Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter-Milan and AC Milan, withdrew the plans that would make Europe’s top competition a ‘closed shop’. ‘

Mass protests by supporters, experts, players and politicians have led to the apparent demise of the league, but Real Madrid president Perez maintains that it is not dead yet and that he is just ‘assisting’.

In another explosive and protracted interview late Wednesday night, in which he could not even sell anyone on the grounds of the Super League, he blamed the only Premier League club for the embarrassment of the project.

In the Spanish radio station El Larguero, as translated by Guillem Balague, Perez said: “Someone in the English group was not so interested and it was contagious, others showed fear and deteriorated.”

When asked by the presenter if the club was City, Perez refused to answer before saying, “They were never interested.”

In an interview in which Perez mostly complained that Madrid would no longer be able to sign the world’s biggest stars such as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, he ominously claimed that the Super League had not yet been dissolved.

Perez claims that Milan and Juventus are still participating in the competition, although both clubs have released official statements in which they announced their withdrawals on Wednesday.

“The European Super League has not dissolved,” he said. “Juventus, Milan, are not out there. Barcelona are thinking about it. We can consider the four best clubs in each league. The goal is to have more interesting games.

“The Super League is not dead, we will continue to work on this project. Now it is ready.”
