Chip and Joanna Gaines have no reason to leave their Waco farmhouse.
The Victorian-style house is on 40 acres in the city where they love. On top of that, it contains all the elements that made this HGTV couple famous in the first place. Chip and Joanna have carefully renovated the property, just like for homeowners Fixer Bo, and now it looks like a dream.
However, one thing about their home had to be changed – there was not enough space. The Gaines welcomed their fifth child in 2018 and raised their total family setting to 7. Now they are undertaking a major overhaul to accommodate the larger group.
And Joanna made one special kitchen change that dedicated fans are destined to copy.
Chip and Joanna Gaines suggest ‘Trender Upper’ design trends

No one could predict how popular it was Fixer Bo on HGTV. Audiences related to the sweet relationship and chemistry on display of the Gaines, as well as their natural talent. The couple really took the “worst houses in the best neighborhoods” from the most beautiful to the most beautiful place.
And in doing so, they influenced the world of home design in important ways. Since then Fixer Bo Becoming an HGTV reviewer, people were suddenly interested in the modern style of the farmhouse that Joanna used regularly. Shiplap walls, neutral furniture and large clocks have become more popular than ever before.
The Gaines even launched their own branded product lines to meet demand. Their latest design decision could change things again.

Fixer Bo ended in 2018, but recently returned to television as a recharge of the original. One of the side projects that Chip and Joanna are undertaking is the expansion of their family home.
“A few months back, Jojo wanted to give a supplement on the farmhouse – and of course I, like an idiot, agreed, but now look what she lost us for,” Chip said during a home recording.
However, the expansion is only part of the story. One of the minor changes Joanna made was to paint her kitchen cabinets dark green. This is contrary to the current trend of using white or light cabinets for kitchens in general. Joanna’s kitchen looks so striking with the dark cabinets against white worksheets that it’s all but her fans copying this design choice.
And the Fixer Bo host said it was an occasion of the moment. Joanna explained in a video clip that she “decided a little late in the game to go ahead and repaint our closets.”
“I just wanted the space to really evolve with the new addition, and I just thought it’s time for a change,” she said.
‘Fixer Upper: Welcome Home’ will show the Gaines’ home renovation
Joanna has already warned that her children may no longer be absent from the new version of the program now that they are getting older. But Fixer Bo fans are probably happy to see detailed photos of the newly renovated farmhouse. Fixer Upper: Welcome home is currently airing on Discovery +.
A preview for the latest installment shows Joanna’s refreshing kitchen plus the newly expanded lounge with a vaulted ceiling and fireplace. Although the HGTV host called the process a ‘real nightmare’, it seems that the final product is worth it.
