Five prospects that make sense for crows in the first round

WR Deon Cain is an ‘intriguing prospect’

The signing of wide receiver Deon Cain at the end of January on a Reserve / Future contract is a step under the radar that could potentially advance the Ravens’ passing game, wrote Todd Karpovich of Sports Illustrated.

Cain, a sixth-round pick in 2018 by the Indianapolis Colts, has spent the past two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He won five 72-yard games in six games in 2019 and then spent much of the 2020 season in Pittsburgh’s practice squad.

“He is an interesting prospect on his way to training sessions and training camps out of season,” Karpovich wrote. “He has a solid size of 6 feet 2, 202 pounds, and that’s in line with cornerbacks. … Cain has drawn comparisons to veteran receiver Kenny Stills.”

Cain was a star in Clemson, where he won twenty passes over three seasons and was a member of the Tigers’ national championship team in 2016.

“Some draft analysts expected Cain to be taken in the second or third round of the NFL draft,” Karpovich wrote.

Cain had a torn ACL at the end of a strong rookie training camp, but Colts head coach Frank Reich said at the time “we know we have something special in Deon Cain.”

Cain will struggle to secure a position in a reception room that includes Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, Watkins, Miles Boykin, Devin Duvernay, James Proche II and any Ravens draft pick, but he’s a player to go after to watch.
