Five people shot in Shreveport

Five people were shot late Sunday night in Shreveport, La, during the third mass shooting in the U.S. in just 24 hours.

Reuters reported that five people were admitted to hospital in Shreveport, including one man who was shot in the head. The condition of the victims is not immediately known.

The shooting apparently took place around 9pm local time while officers nearby were responding to traffic congestion and heard gunshots.

“We responded to a traffic jam tonight and during the congestion, numerous shots were fired,” a police spokesman said at a news conference.

It was not clear Monday morning whether a suspect was in custody and whether the shooting was apparently isolated.

The Hill reached out to Shreveport police for comment.

Sunday night’s shooting was on the heels of two others in Summers, Wis. And Austin, Texas, in which a total of six people died.

According to Kenosha County officials, three men were killed and three others wounded in a tavern in Summers Saturday night.

In Texas, a former deputy with the sheriff’s office in Travis County is accused of killing three people in Austin.
