Five people killed unborn child in Indianapolis shooting

Five people and an unborn child were killed early Sunday morning in a mass shooting inside a home in Indianapolis, a report said.

A young man was also found wounded in what according to investigators is a targeted attack committed by several gunmen around 4 a.m., the Indianapolis Star reported.

“This morning, one of more individuals committed an act of evil in our city,” Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett was quoted as saying at a news conference later Sunday.

“What happened this morning was not a simple act of violence … what happened this morning was a mass murder,” the mayor said.

Randal Taylor, chief of the Indianapolis Metro Police, said the violence was Indianapolis’ “largest mass casualty shooting” in more than a decade, the report said.

Police did not immediately disclose a possible motive for the murder.
