Five final predictions for Destiny 2’s season of the elect

I’m not exactly sure why I’m doing this to myself, but I’m going to predict a lot of good things for the coming season, and then we can see again later if I was right or wrong about everything. I think there’s a decent amount we can extrapolate from what we’ve seen here so far, and that’s what I can see on the horizon for Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen.

1. The Caiatl Alliance

We already know the basics of this season’s plot. Caiatl arrives and wants to enter into an alliance because we are both fighting against the darkness and Savathun and Xivu Arath. But Zavala does not want to submit to Caiatl, so we start fighting. But what do we really do? I think the whole plot of this season and the “Battlegrounds” activities where we fight “Caiatl’s Champions” is a test. I mean there is literally something called the Hammer of Proving and the new strike is called Proving Grounds. We prove ourselves to Caiatl as worthy warriors and I believe that yes, eventually we will end up in an alliance with Caiatl after showing her strength. I suspect the Red Legion destroyed and it was not enough to play all of Calus’ Leviathan games, but I think it’s finally here.

2. The secret Tex Mechanica exotic is not the first curse

I know there are some First Curse fans out there who would like to see the gun return, but I just do not think that is where we are going here. We just had Hawkmoon, another D1 exotic handgun, which was the main weapon of the past season, so another D1 exotic handgun would feel a bit the same. Beyond that, when Bungie brings back D1 exotics, unless it’s buried in a SUPER secret quest like Zero Hour, it’s pretty much used in promotion, Hawkmoon, No Time to Explain, and so on. My guess is that this is a new Tex Mechanica weapon and my hope is that it is the lever action rifle that the community has asked for.

3. There is a third secret exotic

I know we’ve revealed one (Ticuu’s Wrath) and one that is displayed but still secret (First Curse / Not First Curse), but two exotic items in a season seem pretty low, and I think it is the least another bowl. We also know that there are three new pieces of exotic armor coming that have not been shown at all, but my money is in a third exotic way to join these two before the end of the season.

4. Heir appears with his catalyst

Guardian Games is at the end of this season, due to the setback after the Beyond Light delay. It seems pretty obvious that Heir Apparent (the gun named after Caiatl, no less) will reappear for the occasion, so it’s being held outside the exotic kiosk. But I also believe that we will eventually get a catalyst for it, as it appears on the damn catalyst art for collections. So is Leviathan’s Breath, and it got a catalyst last season. It seems like the perfect time for that.

5. Crow will be Hunter Vanguard at the end of the season

Almost all of my Crow predictions end up wrong, but we can see that he’s an important part of this season, appearing with Zavala in cutscenes while he handles Caiatl. I do believe that it will be a kind of ‘training period’ for him, and in the end he will win Zavala and take Cayde’s old place as soon as everyone understands that he is simply no longer the man who killed him. The role has been vacant for two years. It’s time, and there really are no other candidates.

Okay, that’s all I have now. We look again in three months to see how right or wrong I was.
