First Warning Forecast | Watch the first of two winter storms this week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A busy week is in the offing as two winter storms hit the Tri-State, the first starting early Monday morning. All winter-like precipitation types are likely. The second storm will also be complicated and will have an impact during the Thursday-Friday time period. The coming weekend should finally offer quieter weather again, except for the light rainfall on Sunday.

On Sunday evening the areas will continue with icy drizzle / fog / mist and light snowflakes as the temperature moves into the upper 20s. Be careful when traveling, as even a slight ice glare can have a big impact.

A widespread precipitation will arrive early Monday morning. Across southeastern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky, this precipitation will be fairly steady and predominantly snowy, while the rest of the Tri-State sees the danger of ice due to snow and ice rain in a “spotty” sense. Monday morning commuting is probably dangerous!

Outside of scattered and lighter precipitation, Monday should be fairly quiet for much of the day before another round of heavy precipitation arrives at sunset. A similar setup will take place in which snow favors the northwestern zones and snow / south-southern zones.

The winter mixture drains off Tuesday morning and makes way for a cloudy and cold afternoon as the temperature stays near 30 degrees.

Wednesday will be a partly cloudy sky with a peak in the mid 30s. It will only be a one – day break before another storm system brings the new potential for winter mix from Thursday. Rain, ice and snow will all be possible. The effects remain in the Friday morning before declining on Friday afternoon.

Saturday will be dry under a partly cloudy sky as high temperatures reach the mid 30s.

Expect a cloudy sky on Sunday with a chance of light rain and snow showers. High temperatures will be in the mid 40s.
