First call: Chase Claypool stabs Browns after Steelers’ loss, and Sidney Crosby talks about a long future

There are more inconvenient trash cans from a Steelers player over the Cleveland Browns.

Pengney captain Sidney Crosby is thinking long-term about his future. A few former Steelers may be in the running for the Philadelphia Eagles head coach position. And former Penn State coach Bill O’Brien gets a new concert.

All this in Tuesday’s “First Call”.

They … can just … not … stop … clapped

Even as a defeat, Steelers-wide receivers can’t help but make headlines with their mouths.

Or feet.

First, it was JuJu Smith-Schuster’s logo dance in Buffalo and Cincinnati. He then uttered his now-famous “Browns is the Browns” quote before the Steelers’ defeat of the game card weekend for Cleveland.

Well, maybe it was not so humble. Because Chase Claypool took a while at the Browns on TikTok on Monday, even though they beat his team on Sunday.

“Bad loss,” Claypool said. ‘But the Browns will be slapped next week. All good. ‘

Chase, their coaching staff was absent. Their offensive line was patchwork. And the secondary was pinched by covid-19. Yet Cleveland still tore you up 48-37. They beat you twice in three games.

Let me ask you something, Rookie. What do you think Kansas City would do to you if you went to Arrowhead this weekend? Do you think that you might be ‘slapped’ too?

I know if your team beat Cleveland Sunday, they would be ‘slapped’ by Buffalo. Know how I know this? I’ve seen them do this to you once this season.

Do you know who else “slapped” you? The Bengals.

Maybe put down the phone and clean up your own backyard before you start haunting teams that are better than you.

Skating on a line with Father Time

Penguins star Sidney Crosby was on 105.9 The X Wednesday.

Our Mark Madden asked the captain if he ever thinks about the end of his career.

It sounds like Crosby is well aware of his hockey death. But the 33-year-old does not sound exactly threatened.

‘It’s (the end of his career) a little closer than the beginning. “It tends to come to mind a little more,” Crosby said. ‘But I think that when it comes to timing, I do not think too far ahead. I never really thought about getting older when I was younger. I do not think much about it when I get older.

“It’s a competitive league. You have to keep adapting and adapting. But I just love it and I would love to play as long as I can. But if you’re my age, you tend to understand that this is the reality of things. ‘

Crosby is about to start its 16th NHL season. He played 984 regular season games in the NHL, 168 more in the playoffs.

O’Brien to ‘Bama?

Former Penn State coach Bill O’Brien may get a new job.

According to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, he expects to replace Steve Sarkisian as Alabama’s offensive coordinator.

O’Brien was recently the coach and general manager of the Houston Texans.

Famous names

Doug Pederson is out as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

BetOnline.ag cites the offensive coordinator of Kansas City Chiefs, Eric Bieniemy, and Mike Kafka, the coach of KC, as co-favorites as a replacement for Pederson. They are both at 4/1.

Two former Steelers are on the list.

Duce Staley used to be a running back in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia during his playing days. He is now the Eagles’ assistant head coach and running coach. Via ProFootballTalk.com he was nominated as a potential candidate.

“I would expect Duce Staley to be a candidate,” owner Jeffrey Lurie said. “He is a good representative of the Eagles and knows our values. I would expect him to be part of the search as well. ”

Staley is eighth on the BetOnline.ag list on 15/2. Former Steelers quarterback and current Tampa Bay assistant Byron Leftwich is 13th on 16/1.
