The London Headquarters of Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc. was badly damaged by a fire.
Reports emerged over the weekend that the offices in the southeast of the capital had been destroyed by the fire.
‘Luckily no one was hurt, but unfortunately the fire had a devastating effect [on] our offices, ”said a company spokesperson. BRAIN. ‘Although there will be short-term changes in certain business operations in the UK, our warehouse is located elsewhere, and therefore our operations for riders and retailers are not affected. The fire broke out Saturday night in a retail park where Canyon Bicycles is being offered. The London Fire Brigade said 12 fire trucks and about 80 firefighters were needed to put out the blaze.
“Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire and worked hard to bring it under control during a prolonged incident,” said Neil Guyet, commander of the fire department. “There was thick smoke falling over the business park.”
The London Fire Brigade’s Investigation Unit and local police are investigating the as yet unknown cause of the fire, which caused no injuries. Canyon’s premises are not affected.
The incident makes the second high-profile incident affecting U.S. retailers in recent months. In mid-December, thieves broke into the company’s California world headquarters to loot about $ 160,000 from both prototypes and employee bicycles.
