At its February State of Play event, Sony announced a new chapter that will come after Final Fantasy 7 Remake, called Intergrade, which will appear on June 10, 2021.
Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade plays Yuffie, an optional playable character from Final Fantasy 7, around Midgar as she tries to steal scarce material from Shinra Corp – the evil corporation Cloud and the crew also fight in the main plot line.
Sony did not say how big a content update Intergrade would be, but the preview for the extra content said it would bring a number of graphical improvements, such as better reflective lighting and particle effects, as well as faster charging times and a new photo mode .
From the sound of this tweet, the extra content will only be available on PS5 for a yet to be announced price, but Sony says gamers will be able to transfer their storage data from PS4 to PS5 when the DLC appears later this year. Of course, gamers will also be able to get a free upgrade of the PS5 version from the PS4 version.
Better than ‘Noffie’
While fans are already screaming for the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Intergrade looks like it will act as a sort of complementary episode to introduce a new character and improvements, while the core team continues to work on the next part. the game.
In some ways, it’s actually an appropriate fact that Yuffie is included in the Interlude chapter, as it really goes back to the roots of the character as an optional side character. It’s good news that gamers who do not want to shell out extra for DLC will miss any important plot points, while the hardcore fans can still get the full experience by being a little more fiery while waiting for the next game to finish. .
That said, if Yuffie’s chapter is only available on the PS5 version of the game, it could be difficult for PS4 owners who have not yet upgraded due to PS5 re-ownership issues.
As for when we’ll actually see Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, it’s someone’s guess at this point, but with a number of delays hitting Sony’s first party games right now, it would not be surprising if we had to wait until 2022 not – or even 2023 – to see the final showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth.
