Final Fantasy 14’s next expansion is called Endwalker, and it’s coming this fall. The expansion to the long-running MMO, which was unveiled last night during a live stream, will also bring its story to an end as it sends players to the moon. The trailer lets me play this game I’ve never touched before.
Seriously, look at this trailer. I do not know what the importance of many things is in it, but I can see that it is is significant. It gives me second hand hype.
Final Fantasy 14 has been highly praised for its story over the past few years, which has expanded since A Realm Reborn was launched in 2013. Where most expansions to the game continued the story with an important new chapter, and then concluded In the chapter on a handful of subsequent updates, Endwalker releases the entire story when it launches in the fall with update 6.0. Update 6.1 then starts with a new story.
Endwalker will increase the level from 80 to 90, add new areas including dungeons, neighborhoods and a tough attack, and will add several new jobs, the FF14’s class equivalent. One of the works, a healing role called Sage, was unveiled during the announcement stream.
Sage can heal and protect teammates with protective barriers, but also treat damage with four levers and magic. You must have one job already 70 before you can try Sage.
Prior to the release of Endwalker, patch 5.5 will be released on April 13 to bridge the gap of the latest expansion, Shadowbringers.
There are a few more details about the Endwalker extension on the teaser website, or you can see the full announcement stream below. More details are coming to Final Fantasy Digital Fan Fest, which is scheduled for May 15 and 16. We sent Brendy to the fan festival in 2018. Last year we also spoke to some of the game’s best interior designers.
