Fight breaks out at Florida airport over masks

Another day, another airport fight – this time about adhering to the mask.

Four people traveling through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport in Florida on Wednesday fought physically after three passengers refused to wear masks on American Airlines flight 2558 to Chicago, the sheriff’s office in Broward County confirmed to Fox News .

“The verbal argument stemmed from the fact that three of the travelers did not wear their masks,” Gerdy St. said. Louis, a Broward County public information officer, said.

Local news agency WSVN first reported the fight with footage of the incident.

American Airlines asked the three passengers, who were not from Florida and who refused to wear masks, to leave flight 2558. The passengers disembarked, left the gate and had an argument leading to a physical fight with one other person, who is also not from Florida.

Law enforcers intervened and broke the fight.

St. Louis said authorities sent the incident to the State Attorney’s office.

American Airlines confirmed that the passengers of the plane were escorted after they “refused to comply with the federal mask mandate and did not follow the crew member’s instructions.”

In January, the Transportation Safety Administration introduced President Biden’s executive order to require face masks on passenger planes and public transportation.

Those who violate the order can be fined up to $ 250 for the first offense and up to $ 1500 for repeated offenses.
