FORT LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLA. (WSVN) – Three passengers were fighting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport when some travelers’ refusal to wear face masks caused them to be kicked out of an airplane, leading to a flight delay.
The cellphone video captured the women involved in the altercation when they exchanged blows at the American Airlines terminal on Wednesday.
Moments after the fight broke out, a Broward Sheriff’s deputy was seen pulling one of the women away while another was lying on the floor.
BSO investigators said the passengers were forced from a flight to Chicago because they did not follow the mask mandate.
When the deputies escorted the women to the terminal, officials said they were frustrated by frustrated passengers waiting at the gate.
At one point, authorities said words were exchanged and that the fight broke out.
The footage shows the women hitting each other and pulling their hair.
One traveler who identified himself as Paul was shocked after watching the cellphone video.
“What are you fighting for? What are you fighting about? he said, “and they are complete strangers. These people did not know each other before? I do not understand. ”
The incident came after two women got into a fistfight with federal agents who pulled them out of a plane at Miami International Airport. Investigators said one of the suspects threatened an officer with a weapon.
Both women appeared in the mortgage court on Thursday afternoon. They were charged with aggravating battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer by force.
“Has an allegation that she had a knife in her purse and spat in the face of some agent,” Miami-Dade Citcuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer said during one of the hearings.
“The co-accused punched the agent,” Glazer told the second suspect during the trial.
“What ?! Are you serious?” Replied the suspect.
No arrests were made as a result of the fight at FLL.
