Despite some news about yesterday, Stadia is not going anywhere yet. Today it was confirmed eventually, EA will launch its mega-hit FIFA 21 on Google Stadiums next month.
In a press release today, EA plans to expand FIFA 21 through a multi-year license extension, a greater free gaming experience on a PC and a number of mobile offerings developed. In the same press release, EA confirmed the launch of FIFA 21 on Google Stadiums.
Today, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced a multi-year UEFA license extension, which ensures that the pinnacle of club football remains exclusive to EA SPORTS. EA expands access to soccer video games through various mobile development offerings, and by downloading the computer’s FIFA Online 4title series for free to potentially 80 million players in more than 15 new countries. In addition, the franchise will start for the first time on Stadiums when EA SPORTS FIFA 21 is available for Stadium on March 17th.
This launch has been known for some time, as Google and EA have confirmed that a FIFA game would go to Stadia almost a year ago. However, it is amazing that we are finally getting a launch date. It also comes so close in particular that EA is missing from the missing window “Winter 2021” as the season ends a few days later. This launch also puts the game in the middle of the 2021 Champions League season, just a few weeks before the quarter-finals.
FIFA 21 was first released on other platforms on October 6, 2020, marking Stadia’s release about six months before FIFA 22. On the bright side, however, this means that sales are likely to be during the launch period. For example, the “Champions Edition” is currently only $ 20 on PlayStation (digital).
This is the third EA game launched on Stadiums, previous launches including Jedi: Fallen Order and Madden NFL 21. Google and EA previously teased at least two other titles that came to the platform but did not confirm what games it would be.
