Female accomplice hits a toddler in the head in the subway in New York while crime soars

A pan dealer injured a two-year-old boy on the subway in New York City on Saturday, the latest violent incident to plague the transit system.

The attack took place on a C-train in northern Manhattan around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The New York Post reports the train was in West 116th Street and Douglas Boulevard when the female beggar approached a mother and her son, who were sitting in the train, to ask for money.

When the beggar came too close, the mother asked, “Can you please stay 6 feet away?”

The beggar, who was not identified, did not comply with the request and stepped on the woman’s left foot.

“Why did you walk on me?” ask the mother before punching the pan wildly, and connecting with the toddler at least once.

The toddler was left with visible injuries to his face and his ear.

The attack only ended when a witness pulled the suspect off the mother and child.

An ambulance transported the boy to Mount Sinai-Saint Luke and he was later released.

The suspect, meanwhile, was able to flee when the train reached the next station. She is described as a 40-year-old woman, heavy with a neck tattoo and a buzzcut. She is wearing a gray hoodie, a washed-out jeans, boots and a white mask.

According to PIX11, it was not the only metro attack in Harlem over the weekend.

On Sunday, a 32-year-old man was attacked on a 2-train northbound, near 110th Street and Lenox stop.

The man sustained minor tear wounds to his limbs. The suspect in the attack, a man in dark clothes, also evaded arrest.

The attacks come amid an increase in subway violence in recent weeks for New York City.

A 21-year-old machete is charged with killing two homeless people in the A train earlier in February and is being held without bail.

Rigoberto Lopez is also accused of attempted murder after he killed two other people during his deadly rush.

Transit workers are requesting that the 24-hour subway schedule, which was suspended in May, be resumed to clear stations due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Employees claim that overnight stays when the subway is not currently running have become dangerous.

According to the MTA, five metro workers were assaulted during the night when trains were shut down.

Since August, there have been nearly 300 allegations of harassment against metro workers.

Two more hours are currently being added to the operation of the system, although two hours each night from 02:00 to 04:00 without cleaning will be available for cleaning.

The MTA recently called for the deployment of another 1,500 officers in the subway system from the NYPD.

Instead, the NYPD sent less than half of it on Tuesday, adding 644 police officers to the subway stations.

The transit system has struggled since the onset of the pandemic, with management running at about 90 percent as people work from home more frequently.
