Feds investigate whether representative Matt Gaetz spoke about managing Sham candidate in Florida, says Report

Federal investigators investigate another reason for Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL): An alleged conversation between Florida Republican and a well-connected lobbyist, Chris Dorworth, about running a sham third-party candidate in a 2020 race in Florida. State Senate to draw votes from the opponent of an ally of Gaetz, The New York Times reports. A third-party candidate, Jestine Ianotti, did take part in the race, but her final vote did not exceed the difference between the other two. Jason Brodeur, a political ally of Gaetz, won the race. The piece of the investigation into Gaetz has, according to the Times. Dorworth said he did not remember the exchange and had never met Ianotti. Gaetz is being federally investigated for sex trafficking over an alleged relationship with a 17-year-old and alleged payments to women for sex. He denied the allegations.
