Feds arrest the right-wing media figure who promoted the Capitol storm

Authorities on Wednesday announced the arrest of Joe Biggs, a right-wing media figure and member of the violent extremist group the Proud Boys, for participating in the January 6 fatal tragedy of the Capitol.

HuffPost reports that FBI officials have arrested Biggs on three charges. Biggs was reportedly seen breaking a Capitol window with a clear plastic screen.

A video posted on controversial social media site Parler apparently showed Biggs inside the building.

In the video, a voice from the camera says, ‘Hey Biggs, what do you have to say? “The person pictured below smiles broadly and replies, ‘That’s great!’ before pulling up his heel to cover his face, ”an FBI agent said in an affidavit obtained by HuffPost.

Biggs apparently admitted to FBI officials that he had entered the Capitol, but denied that he was “aware of any premeditated storms in the Capitol, and had no idea who would be planning it.” He claims that the doors to the Capitol were wide open when he entered the building.

However, Biggs reportedly reported online that Proud Boys would “interfere” with HuffPost, writing, “January 6 is going to be epic.”

Several people affiliated with the Proud Boys organization have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the deadly riot. The FBI statement notes that members of the Proud Boys were wearing hearing aids when they broke into the Capitol.
