Google has released the February 2021 update for all Pixel phones running Android 11. In addition to security solutions, this update offers some key solutions. Don’t get too excited, it’s just Google fixing things that broke.
First, the touch sensitivity issues on the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G need to be resolved with the new firmware. People started noticing that the screens of their phones sometimes do not touch anymore after installing the December 2020 update.
The other solution covers every phone since the Pixel 3 – there was a long issue with sensors not detected at startup. This issue first appeared with Android 10 and would link things like double tap and charge detection.

In related news, the FCC has approved an update for the Pixel 5 and LG Wing 5G that will enable the C-band in the US. This holds the promise of better coverage and faster network speeds.
This will be a simple software update, as the hardware apparently supports it (for some reason Pixel 4a 5G does not get C-band support). The FCC files refer to the Verizon and AT&T versions of the Wing (the T-Mobile model is not listed).
Note: we do not know when the C-band will be activated on the two phones, but there is no 5G in the C-band yet – it was only recently auctioned and the results of the auction will be announced in March. Verizon apparently bought the largest piece.
