Lionel Messi‘s future is very much in the air and that the Argentine would like to leave Barcelona was not kept secret.
The captain’s contract expires at the end of the current season, which means he was able to walk away from the Camp Nou with a free shuttle.
La Vanguardia has published details of its last renewal, which took place in 2017, showing the bonuses it received in addition to his substantial salary.
In addition to agreeing to an increase of approximately 100 million euros in his salary, there were also two additional bonuses that amounted to 78 million euros. It had to be paid in two installments 39 million euros, although they have been delayed a number of times.
The first of these was only paid in July last year. The second, meanwhile, will start at the end of the 2020/21 season and will be paid for in eight installments over four years, meaning it will end in 2025.
The player and his representatives do not complain about the postponement of the payments.
