The FBI announced on Friday that investigators believed two pipe bombs discovered near the U.S. Capitol were planted the night before the January 6 siege.
Based on the analysis of videos taken by the cameras in the area, investigators said that whoever planted the bombs did so on January 5 between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. the Electoral College votes for president.
In the videos obtained by the FBI and independently by The Washington Post, which posted it on its website, one can see how someone is believed to be the suspect walking through the area, wearing a gray hoodie, a mask and a backpack on.
According to the FBI, the suspect also has distinctive shoes: black, gray and yellow Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes.
The bombs were placed on Capitol Hill outside the headquarters of both the Republican and Democratic parties. Investigators said both devices were fully functional, made of metal pipe with a standard generator. They were indemnified and sent to the FBI crime lab for analysis.
Although they did not go down, their discovery 90 minutes before rioters stormed the Capitol pulled dozens of police away from their normal posts.
Hoping to call in more public assistance to identify the suspect, the FBI increased the reward Friday to help crack the case to $ 100,000.
