Officials are investigating whether a Pennsylvania woman seen on video and taking part in the U.S. riots in the Capitol stole a laptop or hard drive from the home office, Nancy Pelosi’s office, and planned to take it to to sell the Russians, officials said.
The FBI is asking Riley June Williams on charges of including access to a restricted building, disrupting government order and illegal or disruptive behavior.
There is no indication that a laptop was sent from the speaker’s office, and the agency said in an affidavit that ‘the matter is still under investigation’.
“It appears that WILLIAMS fled,” according to the affidavit. “According to local law enforcement in Harrisburg, WILLIAMS ‘mother said that WILLIAMS packed a bag and left her house and told her mother that she would be away for a few weeks.
“WILLIAMS did not provide her mother with any information about her destination,” he said.
A witness described as a former romantic partner of Williams’s claims he saw footage of her ‘taking a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi’s office. ‘
‘[Witness 1] ” WILLIAMS intended to send the computer to a friend in Russia, who then planned to sell the device to SVR, the Russian foreign intelligence service, ” an agent said.
“According to [Witness 1], the transfer of the computer device to Russia failed for unknown reasons and WILLIAMS continued to destroy or destroy the computer device, ‘according to the affidavit, which contains a link to a documentary produced by the London ITV News.
A woman identified as Williams – wearing glasses, a green shirt and a brown trench coat and a bag over her shoulder – can be seen shouting ‘above, above, above’ and people in the pushing towards Pelosi’s office.
The program singled out the woman, saying she was “disciplined, focused, with a sense of urgency and training people up a flight of stairs.”
On January 16, William’s mother told authorities ‘that a British media crew had come to her house the night before and asked to speak to WILLIAMS, who was not there’, according to the statement.
‘The news crew submitted to WILLIAMS’ mother one or more photos taken at the American Capitol on January 6, 2021. Her mother admitted that it was WILLIAMS in the picture, ‘the statement said.
“It appears WILLIAMS has fled,” he added.
Williams is not charged with theft.
