Fauci says 20K pregnant women got COVID wax with ‘no red flags’

Dr Anthony Fauci said on Wednesday that about 20,000 pregnant women had received the COVID-19 vaccine “without red flags.”

The leading expert in infectious diseases announced the update during a White House briefing on Wednesday, adding that the CDC and the FDA are monitoring the situation.

The guidance for pregnant women receiving the coronavirus vaccine varied because they did not participate in the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccine trials.

But Fauci said Wednesday that clinical trials with COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant women and children are underway, and more will come.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that pregnant women discuss the decision to get vaccinated with their healthcare provider.

However, the World Health Organization does not recommend that pregnant women receive the COVID-19 vaccine unless they are at high risk of being exposed.
