CITY OF MEXICO – A man has been arrested in northern Mexico for allegedly beating his three sons to death to return to the children’s mother, prosecutors said Sunday.
The prosecutor’s office in the northern state of Sonora said on Sunday that the boys were between 3, 7 and 8 years old. The deaths occurred on January 2 in the north-central state of Hidalgo. The suspect called his own father to tell him what he had. did and the grandfather called the police.
The suspect apparently fled to Sonora but was quickly detained there and returned to Hidalgo to face charges.
Prosecutors said the man quarreled with the boys’ mother and killed the children “to cause her great pain.”
“He apparently killed his sons in revenge against his wife,” the office said in a statement.
